Damp Day

So, yesterday was sunny and warm, today was damp and cool. That's how it goes here! I'm glad I did a lot of exercising yesterday, because besides going to Curves the morning, the only thing I exercised today was my mouth (eating and talking)!


I picked up some coffee creamer for my new friend at the store last night, and planned to bring it to her some time today. I "text messaged" her a little before noon to let her know that I could come whenever. She and her husband hadn't eaten lunch yet, so they wondered if I would want to go out with them. I hadn't eaten anything, and didn't have any plans for the day, so said "sure". Our lunch actually lasted nearly two hours (all of us like to talk!). As I said, I didn't have any other plans, so it worked out fine. Her husband INSISTED on paying for my lunch...I'm not so sure what to think about them spending money on me, but it also doesn't seem quite right to spend too much time arguing about it. So, I suppose we are "OK" for now...I drive them somewhere to eat, they pay for my food...as long as none of us makes a "big deal" about it, so not EVERYONE knows what kind of relationship we have, I guess that's fine. I like them, they like me, it seems God put us in each other's paths, so I will just "go with it" :o) The baby is doing better today, and this morning, his parents wrote this--"Another blessed day for [him] and family... Doctors continue to be encouraged by [his] improvement during morning rounds. All labs (blood, gas, liver functions etc...) and vent settings are coming back with positive results suggesting [he] is on the right road to recovery." Of course, the post-transplant road has its ups and downs, but they are encouraged, the doctors are encouraged, so we just pray and see what God has in store for him. Hopefully I will have time to go visit him tomorrow.


My other friend's son is doing pretty well. He had to have a drain placed this week and they are still watching him pretty closely. So, he will probably be in the hospital for a while longer. She is struggling tonight because tomorrow is her daughter's birthday and she is here with her son. Her daughter is having a very hard time with this, and she is not sure what to do. So, I am sending prayers to her and her family for some guidance in this.


My foster parent class was fine. There are some pretty interesting people in the class, but I have been sitting near some of the "normal" ones (and we do a lot of laughing, and making quiet comments...probably not very kind, but we are wondering how these people are going to take care of these kids!). I'm still behind on my homework...procrastination was my middle name when I was in school. It would have been nice if that had changed in my "old age", but I guess it hasn't!

Back to work tomorrow...those three days off this week were SO nice!! Good night.
