I've got a hand that I can hold
To make somebody smile
What I did NOT know was that not long before I was listening to this song, a little girl I know was taking her last breath here on Earth...she will not have "another day" here. (I found out when I went to work to take that test this afternoon.) I was SHOCKED, to say the least! This girl was up on my unit yesterday smiling and happy (or, at least she looked that way when I saw a nurse holding her up at the desk). Overnight she got sicker, and she died this morning. Now, to be fair, she was a "chronically sick" child, not an "otherwise healthy" one, so I SUPPOSE there is always the chance of this happening, but it still seems SO unexpected and "crazy". I feel kind of "wrong" that I didn't even really get teary-eyed when I heard. Maybe it was the "shock factor", or maybe it's because I KNOW she is in a MUCH better place. Her home life was not the greatest, so a home in Heaven will be perfect (as it will be for all of us!). Of course, I would NEVER think that any parent should see their child die, but somehow, this time it seems easier to understand God's decision to take her back at such a young age. In some situations, it is VERY helpful to remember that there are fates worse than death...especially when you believe in Heaven. While it seems this little girl could have touched MANY more lives had she been given more days, and those who loved her will miss her dearly, she is now free from illness and playing with all of the other kids I know there in Heaven.
Anyway, I was blessed with another day, so here I sit and type...at my mom and dad's. Apparently, my computer is having issues (I'm telling you, my computer was NOT broken until I gave it to the IT guys at my mom's work!). So, another day has gone by without my computer. HOPEFULLY it will get shipped tomorrow! I'm not sure if I'll make it to mom and dad's tomorrow to use their computer. My one class is "scheduled" to be from 8-5, but someone told me today that it could be over by 3. If that is the case, then I will have some time before my other class that starts at 6.
Good night (going home to watch "Medium"...hopefully it doesn't freak me out as much as last week!).
